Privacy Policy
CLocal is a video-first local discovery app operated by Clickclick Video Marketing Ltd (“CLocal”, “we”, “us”), a company registered in Northern Ireland (company number NI707611), registered office Arthur House, 41 Arthur Street, Belfast, BT1 4GB. We are the data controller for the personal data described here. This policy explains what the CLocal mobile app and website collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
What we collect
- Account data — your email address, name or display name, username, chosen role(s) (consumer, business, creator), and an optional profile photo.
- Content you create — creator applications, videos and thumbnails you upload, business listings, gift and deal claims, and support messages.
- Location data — only if you turn on nearby-deal alerts. We store your most recent approximate location as a single point that is overwritten each time it updates. We do not keep a history of where you have been. Leave nearby alerts off and no location is stored.
- Purchase data — if you buy a CLocal membership, the app store (Apple or Google) and our payments partner RevenueCat tell us that a purchase or renewal happened and its status. We never receive or store your card number.
- Device and diagnostic data — app version, device model and operating system, and crash reports, used to keep the app working.
- Website only — if you visit clocal.co.uk, essential cookies for your session and consent choice, and, only with your consent, analytics and marketing cookies.
Why we process it, and our legal basis
- To provide the service — create and secure your account, show deals near you, process memberships, deliver claimed gifts and deals (basis: performance of a contract).
- To keep CLocal safe and working — prevent abuse of gifts, deals and events, fix bugs, and improve the product (basis: our legitimate interests).
- To send you nearby-deal alerts and occasional local offers or prize-draw notices — only while you have nearby alerts switched on (basis: consent, which you can withdraw at any time by turning alerts off).
- To meet legal duties — tax, accounting and responding to lawful requests (basis: legal obligation).
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers who process it on our behalf under contract:
- Supabase — hosting, authentication and database.
- Bunny.net — storage and delivery of videos and images.
- RevenueCat and the Apple App Store / Google Play — processing and validating membership purchases.
- Sentry — crash and error diagnostics.
- Meta — website analytics and advertising pixel, on clocal.co.uk only and only with your consent.
- Microsoft Clarity — heatmaps and session recordings of how pages on clocal.co.uk are used, so we can see where the site is confusing and fix it. On clocal.co.uk only and only with your consent. Recordings capture clicks, scrolling and mouse movement. Text you type into the waitlist form is masked by Clarity and is not recorded.
Some providers process data outside the UK/EEA. Where they do, transfers are covered by UK/EU-approved safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
We keep account data while your account is active. Deleting your account starts a 30-day grace period, during which signing back in restores it in full. After 30 days your profile and app data are permanently deleted, except where we must keep limited records to meet legal obligations (for example transaction records for tax).
Deleting your data
You can delete your account and associated personal data from inside the app: Profile → Delete account. You can also request deletion by emailing hello@clocal.co.uk or via our support page. See “How long we keep it” above for what happens next.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to our processing of your personal data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk) or your local supervisory authority. To exercise any of these, contact us using the details below.
Children
CLocal is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes we will update the version and date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
